Equipping construction workers to overcome mental health challenges before they become unmanageable.
关于我们
We're ending construction's leading killer: suicide. We’ve all heard it: “toughen up,” “walk it off,” “be a man.” Mental health has been taboo in the construction industry, and workers are paying the price with their lives. Construction’s suicide rate is four times higher than any other industry. Suicide kills five times more workers than OSHA’s fatal four (falls, electrocution, struck-by, caught between). Four times higher. Five times more deadly— 4×5 spreads awareness and creates a network of support so we can say goodbye to construction suicides forever. Through our 4x5 ambassador program, we equip craft professionals with Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) certifications, allowing them to identify and overcome mental health challenges on the job site before they become unmanageable.

This #VeteransDay, we'd like to thank all of the courageous men and women who have served our country, many of whom are now in the construction industry. Like construction workers, veterans face a higher risk of suicide due to post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain injury, and many other factors that can contribute to this increased risk. By familiarizing ourselves with these resources and being ready to assist a veteran in need, we can foster a safer and more supportive environment for veterans in the construction industry: ? Veterans Crisis Line: Dial 988 then Press 1 ? Mission 22 Veterans Program: mission22.com ? Stop Soldier Suicide: stopsoldiersuicide.org Let’s work together to ensure that those who have served our country receive the help they deserve.

Take the first step in supporting your team's mental health by signing up for the MHFA training course or scheduling a presentation at 4x5program.org.

As #NationalSuicidePreventionMonth comes to a close, it's important to remember to check in with those around us and prioritize mental health. One of the best ways to learn how to recognize when someone is struggling, have impactful conversations, and provide appropriate professional help to a person in need is through Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training. Approaching situations like these can be difficult to navigate, so this course provides everything you need to know to help your crew. Visit 4x5program.org to sign up for the next MHFA course, get familiar with mental health resources, or find out other ways you can support our mission.

For #NationalSuicidePreventionWeek, we had the opportunity to participate in events that helped us raise awareness and share ways to improve mental health in the construction industry. 4x5 Program Director, Sidney Hawkins, presented at the CFMA - Valley of the Sun Chapter Suicide Prevention Panel and we also had the chance to speak with construction professionals at the American Subcontractors Association of Arizona PPE Panel and Expo about mental health safety in our industry. If you'd like to help our mission to end construction suicides, visit 4x5program.org for business resources, information on Mental Health First Aid training, or to donate.

If you're interested in getting your team Mental Health First Aid certified or would like to donate to our cause, visit 4x5program.org. We appreciate all the support and donations we received at this event and we're looking forward to speaking with everyone we met very soon!
