    PAY IT 4WARD - In partnership with Austin Contractors & Engineers Association and Gray Engineering, Inc., 4Ward hosted a Volunteer Work Day at Safe In Austin last Friday. Thanks to Carey Johnson and Steven Minor the planning and coordination, it was a great success! The team showed up and knocked out many projects around the property from tree/brush clean-up to expanding the chicken coops to preparing pads for a new rain water collection system. The 4Ward BBQ team, Benchmark BBQ, provided a delicious lunch of pulled pork and ribs for all the volunteers. By the day’s end, this group had worked hard and made a lasting impact on this well-deserving organization. Thank you to all of our employees and the other volunteers through ACEA that showed up and did some good that day! ? Thank you SAFE IN AUSTIN RESCUE RANCH for creating a sanctuary for animals with disabilities and bringing together children with special needs to connect with them.     Over the past two years and through our strategic partnership with The HFW Companies, 4Ward has invested in people and technologies to expand our services beyond traditional land surveying.     SKY’S THE LIMIT WITH INFRASTRUCTURE VIABILITY COLLABORATION -- When the town of Ridge Spring in rural Saluda County, SC, turned to CRANSTON to undertake an extensive viability planning study of the town’s water utility infrastructure, we brought in one of our fellow HFW Partner firms to provide additional eyes in the sky and boots on the ground for us with its Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping expertise and assist our data gathering. This unique collaboration with partner firm 4Ward Land Surveying of Austin, Texas, allowed our civil engineering and survey teams to fly over Ridge Spring with a drone piloted by a pair of experienced 4Ward drone pilots and GIS photogrammetry technicians to gather extensive data and inventory the town’s water, sewer, and stormwater utility assets. Over the course of a couple weeks, we mapped the entire town – more than 40 miles of infrastructure -- from 399 feet in the air, as well as on the ground using a GPS technology to capture, quantify, and measure all of the town’s utility infrastructure. This is the first phase of an 8-month viability study led by CRANSTON’s Midlands, S.C., office. CRANSTON’s challenge: to determine the current viability of those utility assets and create long-term plans for the community, including cost estimates, to maintain, improve, or even replace some of the infrastructure over time. CRANSTON also is providing capital funding program assistance to manage a SCIIP grant, which was awarded to the town for this study through the efforts of the Upper Savannah Council of Governments.
