The gut microbiome is a complicated engine of bacteria, fungi and viruses that live in the intestinal track. It’s long been understood that antibiotics can interfere with a healthy gut microbiome but an innovative study has revealed that other drugs, such as those prescribed for Parkinson’s, can profoundly affect it, as well.???There is still so much to learn about the human microbiome and researchers are establishing novel approaches to understanding it; it’s important to stay abreast of all new research as it comes to light.??4Sight’s FutureSet Spark can help.??#futureset #microbiome #4sightadvantage https://lnkd.in/ebUDvMKG

Identifying “villain” & “hero” ingredients before they become an “ingredient headline” using AI developed for DoD
关于我们
At 4Sight, we use machine learning techniques developed for the Department of Defense to identify emerging “villain” and “hero” ingredients before they reach the headlines and result in product recalls, poor PR and lost sales. 4Sight is unique in the data we mine: science, social, market (news & legal) and regulatory and in how we synthesizes that data scoring it to identify potential actions. Used by R&D to identify emerging ingredients for innovation and risk/opportunities and by marketing/communications to identify social signposts as well as influencers. Delivered in an easy to use dashboard, the 4Sight dashboard provides ingredient insights at your fingertips.

We often think of our gut microbiome being impacted by our diets: how much fiber we consumer, how much processed meat or alcohol, how diverse our diet is.??But there’s another factor that plays into our gut health – social living conditions!??A study published in Animal Microbiome, conducted on male primates, found that certain bacteria increased when the animals live in pairs as opposed to alone.??This highlights how complex our gut health is, and how much more there is to learn.?#futureset #microbiome #4sightadvantage https://lnkd.in/gEiABKrQ

An article recently published in the??journal?Science of the Total Environment?looked at the health data of young adults and came to the alarming but unsurprising??link between PFAS (so called “forever chemicals”), bacteria levels in the gut and a decrease in kidney function. Though there are no known interventions to this concern yet, scientists and researchers are hopeful that someday treatments to target the gut microbiome and the levels of PFAS in the human body.??All the more reason to stay on top of current microbiome and PFAS research.??#futureset #PFAS #microbiome #4sightadvantage https://lnkd.in/gu_m8XHF

Over the last few years, we’ve heard about the dangers of PFAS and the importance of the gut microbiome.?The former are substances otherwise known as “forever chemicals” that have been found in food and other CPG packaging and in the goods they hold.??The latter’s importance is a topic of vast current research, all of which suggests that the makeup of bacteria and fungi in our intestines has positive and negative effects on our overall health.??One recent study has shown that PFAS exposure is linked to decreased kidney function, which suggests disruptions to the microbiome, namely that exposure to these substances may have deep impact on our overall health.??To keep on top of these issues, 4Sight has FutureSet Spark and FutureSet HI, dashboards to monitor ingredients and microbiome research. #futureset #microbiome #ingredients #4sightadvantage https://lnkd.in/ggdDqJC5

As scientists learn more about the human microbiome, they see many connections to diseases that were once a mystery.??The gut microbiome is a community of trillions of microbes (fungi, bacteria and viruses) that live in the gastrointestinal tract.??Scientists at UT Irvine have found a evidence of a connection between the gut microbiome and Parkinson’s Disease.??What other links will scientists find as they delve into this growing field???To remain on the cutting edge of this research, it will be important to keep abreast of studies, academic research, patents, grants and more. #futureset #microbiome #4sightadvantage https://lnkd.in/gUN9yBVu

A new study Published in Brain, Behavior and Immunity has found a connection between Microbiome health and aggression in mice, suggesting that a disrupted microbiome early in life can lead to aggressive behaviors early in life.??It’s an interesting study, but it is credible or worthy of further study???Here’s one way FutureSet Spark can be helpful.??We not only offer the ability to filter studies by inputs such as N and P-value, but also include the h-index , which measure’s individual researcher’s productivity, into our algorithm so you know what are the most important academic papers.??This study, for example, was led by Professor Omry Koren, who has an h-index of 61, which is remarkably good.??#futureset #microbiome #4sightadvantage https://lnkd.in/ew9V6ykq

A study published in early September in Environmental Health Perspectives was picked up later by the Guardian, and detailed how young children between the ages of 4 and 8 are at risk of exposure to Phthalates – common ingredients in personal care products either added to stabilize them or because they migrate from plastic containers into the products. These high levels of Phthalates are particularly troubling in children who are more vulnerable to the toxins that may impact their reproductive and immune systems, as well as behavior and learning.???Like any ingredient, it’s important for manufacturers to weigh the risks.??And when?measuring risks and opportunities with ingredients it's important to substantiate new data and sources. #furtureset #4sightadvantage https://lnkd.in/ebeXeaTn
