“For me, joining 4SEE was a moment of everything coming together and clicking into place. I had been independently interested in each of the core topics—sustainability, equity, and education—separately and had done research and advocacy within those domains, but they had always seemed disparate for me. As others zeroed in on their interests, pursuing opportunities and classes that built up to a cohesive whole, I struggled to figure out what issues were the most important to me. Partaking in 4SEE’s mission, first as an intern and now as the newsletter chair, has allowed me to realize the connections between my passions and helped me use this to consider these topics in a more nuanced way. Thanks to 4SEE, I now feel comfortable advocating for these issues together and helping draw to light the multi-faceted, complex issues prevalent in our society. Learning from and working alongside inspiring peers, I feel inspired and motivated to make change using the skills I have, building awareness from the ground up in a way that feels utterly true to me.” — Kate Lee, Newsletter Chair

“As someone who deeply resonated with the stories behind the directors of 4SEE, this organization became the perfect environment that provided individuals who shared common goals and experiences an inclusive community platform to express their voices as changemakers and visionaries from all backgrounds. Coming from a local culture that is entirely dependent on its surrounding environment and peoples, it is frequently taught in Hawai'i that we must mālama ?āina–or care for the land, those who live, and those who come before us. Fundamental understanding of this philosophy can empower our generation of student leaders, and embodies the mission of 4SEE: cultivating better and more educated global advocates–and people–of tomorrow.” — Tiffany Wong, Administrative Affairs Chair
