Last week, I had the opportunity to visit a Catholic university in Florida that has truly stayed committed to its original mission. As I walked around the campus I had a true sense of calm, belonging, and powerful hope. It was obvious that the majority of the students were happy, polite, and embracing their experience. I had in the back of my mind that it was Catholic schools week and thought I really need to do something to show support for my own Catholic high school - Holy Name High School - Ohio. I learned a lot in high school but I do believe that I learned more about the value of making connections with people (through faith and friendship) at HN more than anything. I anticipated that I’d see the University President (who is doing great things by the way), and we happened to be colleagues over 20 years ago at my high school. However, It was a complete surprise to run into my freshman year English teacher and his wife while on tour of campus! It was certainly coincidental but it was a powerful reminder of the importance of people connections and the value of Holy Name HS.
