  • We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who thoughtfully participated in and donated to our 2025 Black History Month Personal Care Items Drive, supporting survivors at our Lewis House who identify as part of the Black and African diaspora. While Black History Month may be coming to an end, the celebration of Black history, excellence, joy, and contributions continues year-round. At the same time, the Black diaspora in America continues to face significant challenges, systemic barriers, social justice issues, and racial inequities. It is through systemic change, education, allyship, and advocacy that lasting transformation can take root. We encourage you to join us as we continue to seek meaningful ways to engage with and support the pursuit of equity, opportunity, and justice for members of the Black diaspora. Our Amazon wish list will remain active throughout the year, so please feel free to share it with your friends, family, and colleagues, and consider contributing whenever possible. Once again, thank you for your generosity and support. Amazon Wish List: https://buff.ly/4i0nRLO

February is Black History Month. ?? Please consider contributing to our Black History Month Personal Care Items Drive to directly support the needs of Black survivors staying with us at our Lewis House shelter. See the most-needed items on our Amazon Wish List: https://buff.ly/46DUdW0? At our Lewis House domestic and sexual violence shelter, 32% of participants in 2024 identified as Black/African American, 2% as African, and 23% as multiracial, with an undetermined portion of this multiracial group linked to the Black and African diaspora. When victims escape violence and come to our Lewis House shelter, they often arrive with just the clothes on their backs, with little time to pack personal care products. People from the Black and African diaspora have unique skin care, hair care, and cosmetic needs. During Black History Month we want to raise awareness and increase support for these survivors. To do so, we’ve curated an Amazon wish list of the most commonly requested personal care items by Lewis House residents, including options to purchase from Black-owned businesses. Please use the link below to view the list and donate. Then, share this opportunity with your network to help support greater equity in our community. Thank you! https://buff.ly/46DUdW0?

February is Black History Month. 360 Communities’ mission is to deliver safety and stability that improves lives. 360 Communities commits to ongoing growth and tangible action to center diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) within our organization and community. In 2023, 360 Communities launched its first-ever Black History Month Drive to support survivors at our Lewis House who identify as part of the Black and African diaspora. The Black and African diaspora encompasses diverse people, communities, and cultures with African ancestry. While domestic violence impacts individuals from all cultural and ethnic backgrounds, due to the effects of systemic racism in the United States, members of the Black and African diaspora are disproportionately affected by domestic violence, sexual violence, and sexual assault. This is reflected in the number of people from this community that the 360 Communities Violence Prevention and Intervention (VPI) Program serves and supports annually. Through a process of learning about the best practices and most intentional ways to support this community’s culturally specific needs in relation to domestic violence, it was discovered through feedback from Black survivors that there is a critical need for access to culturally specific personal care items (hair care, skincare, and cosmetics) that are readily available to them while staying at domestic violence shelters. This need inspired the creation of our Black History Month Personal Care Items Drive to support survivors at our Lewis House who identify as part of the Black and African diaspora. In 2024, 32% of our Lewis House domestic and sexual violence shelter residents identified as Black/African American, 2% as African, and 23% as multiracial, with an undetermined portion of this group connected to the Black and African diaspora. When victims escape violence and come to our shelters, they often arrive with just the clothes on their backs, with little time to pack personal care products. People from the Black and African diaspora have unique skin care, hair care, and cosmetic needs. Although our donors have consistently provided wonderful items to support shelter residents, we often do not receive personal care products that address the specific needs of our Black residents. We want to use Black History Month to raise awareness and increase support for these survivors. To do so, we’ve curated an Amazon wish list of the most commonly requested Black hair care, skin care, and makeup items by Lewis House residents, including options to purchase from Black-owned businesses. Please use the link below to view the list and donate. Then, share this opportunity with your network to help support greater equity in our shelters.
