You can find Justin's account of the race below👇Congratulations on this amazing accomplishment, Justin! 🏊♂️🚴♂️🏃♂️💪 #Ironman #Inspiration "Justin Beaudry, you are an Ironman!" These are words I've been dreaming about for the past 24 weeks. Words that have been my focus of training (15-20 hours per week). It all came down to Sunday. Ironman Arizona. The swim was COLD! Honestly, I almost called it within the first few minutes of being in the water. My feet, hands, and face were all numb. After about 500 yards I was able to get to a semi-comfortable pace. I knew if I could finish the swim, I could finish the race. I basically learned how to swim this year, so this was the hardest and scariest part for me. My total swim time was 1:41:31 for 2.4 miles. The bike was 3 out and backs which totaled 112 miles. The first out and back felt great! It was slightly uphill on the way out, with some good downhill on the way back. The second and third were rough. It got real windy on the way back, which definitely slowed me down. I got into a comfortable position and just kept moving. Unfortunately, one of my water bottles ejected from my bike. It was full of some nutrition, so I had to improvise and use some aid station nutrition. Regardless, I set several PRs for myself on the bike. It was my fastest time for every distance from 50K to 180K! Total bike time was 6:29:04 for 112 miles. The run. Something I've been doing for a few years now. When I got to the run I knew I was going to finish. I tried to start off easy, but I went faster than I probably should have. I had been fighting stomach issues since the swim, and they were finally starting to go away. I tried to focus on my heart rate and keep it in Zone 2. I was mostly able to do this. It definitely hurt, though. I was lucky enough to have a bunch of friends out volunteering on the course. Seeing all of them gave me new life, and helped keep me going. Going in to my last loop I was able to see Lindsey, which again, gave me the extra motivation I needeed. I finished the last couple miles strong, and became an Ironman! Total run time was 4:21:50 for 26.2 miles. Total Ironman finish time: 12:48:47 There are so many people I need to thank. Thank you for beig there during the training, during the race, and just putting up with me on a daily basis!"
