Dr. Eleonoor van Gerven, vice president of the World Council for Gifted and Talented Children, visited Bridges Academy last week to engage with our community and share her expertise on gifted education. During her visit, she was interviewed by our new high school podcasting group on the meaning of twice-exceptionality and best practices in schools, observed classrooms during core subjects and enrichment clusters, and addressed over 60 professionals and parents as part of our 2e Speaker Series. She also led a professional development session for our faculty on Tony Ryan’s Thinker’s Keys. We here at Bridges Academy and the Bridges 2e Center were honored to host Dr. van Gerven and look forward to welcoming her back in the future! #2e #2ekids #2eteachers #twiceexceptional #neurodiversity

Multiple members of the Bridges family attended the annual California Association for the Gifted (CAG) conference in Orange County last weekend. All 10 members of the Bridges delegation were selected to present on topics including talent development, curriculum advancement, transitional support, dual differentiation, and the many benefits of our strength-based model. Team Bridges — representing Bridges Academy (LA & online), the Bridges 2e Center, and Bridges Graduate School —?was very well received and were proud to represent the work we do here at Bridges. We look forward to future collaboration with CAG, which runs this and other high-profile events in the state. #2e #2ekids #twiceexceptional #2eteachers #neurodiversity #cag2025

Bridges Community— We are pleased to announce that school will resume tomorrow — Tuesday, January 13 —across all four divisions. Normal schedules will be in effect. As a reminder, students should come prepared with everything needed for their Tuesday classes. To ensure a smooth return for our students, we will hold an all-faculty and staff briefing later this afternoon. Additionally, online support is available today for parents who may have questions. Please look out for emails from your Division Directors, which will provide further details and updates. For families who have traveled or are otherwise unable to return tomorrow, we kindly ask that you notify your respective Division Director. This will help us plan accordingly and confirm that everyone in our community is safe. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. We are excited to welcome everyone back to school tomorrow!

Bridges Community— Thank you for the ongoing care you are offering to others within and beyond the school community. School operations and the campus will remain closed on Monday 1/13 so we can ensure the safety of all. Several factors have influenced this decision: ?The Forecast: Stronger winds are predicted this afternoon and into the evening, bringing uncertainty. ?Safety and Evacuation Plans: Our community has families from across Los Angeles meaning that it can be complex to get everyone off campus quickly. ?Faculty and Staff: A large number of employees, like families, are impacted in many ways including evacuation or standing by for evacuation and loss of utilities. Mental Health and Well-Being Resources Many families are accessing resources to frame discussions with children about the current events. This fact sheet may help families who are looking for advice: https://conta.cc/4gRPMNk. The previously circulated list of a broad range of resources can be found here: https://conta.cc/4jarJuJ On Monday, we will be coordinating access to our counselors for students to connect with via zoom. Advice about these details will come from the Division Directors on Monday. If you need anything, please reach out and I look forward to updating you soon. -Mark Long
