Families spent the day with their Marine in the Kid Zone, saw/sat inside a HMMWV, and had the opportunity to learn about some of the weapon systems utilized by the Marine Corps. It was a great day! The 23d Marine Regiment Motorcycle Mentorship Program, AKA Semper Gumby Riders, conduct an organized ride on April 18, 2024. It was a beautiful day for GySgt Perieff’s last ride before departing for a new duty station. On Friday, April 12, 2024, Sergeant Major Roberto Alviso was relived and Sergeant Major Brian Anderson was appointed as the 23d Marine Regiment Inspector Instructor Sergeant Major at the 23d Marine Regiment Relief and Appointment Ceremony held at the Golden Gate National Cemetary in San Bruno, CA. Many Senior Enlisted Leaders, Veterans, family and friends were present to witness this felicitous occasion. Thank you to all those in attendance! Let Success Make the Noise: Truck Company Leads the Way “…presented to the most outstanding company of the 4th Marine Division.” The General Clifton Cates Trophy was recently awarded to Truck Company, 23rd Marine Regiment, at the 4th Marine Division Commanders’ Conference. In 2023, Truck Company was recognized as a Marine Corps Motor Transport Awards Program unit awardee, celebrating their mission success, leadership, and impact in the motor transport field. Truck Company honors Sergeant Reckless by incorporating her legacy into their mindset, slogan, and logo. A dedicated transport, enabling Marines to fight at their maximum capabilities. “In October 1952, Lieutenant Eric Pederson, commanding officer of a recoilless rifle platoon in the First Marine Division, bought a little brown mare named Ah Chim Hai, or Flame of the Morning, from a young boy at a race track in Seoul, Korea, for $250. The Marines trained Reckless to carry 75 mm shells from the Ammunition Supply Point to the men who needed them – under fire and usually without an escort. On a single day in late March 1953, during the savage fighting for Vegas Outpost, Reckless made 51 trips, delivering 386 rounds to her Marines and bringing the wounded back to safety.” (usmcmuseum.com)
