23andMe Expands Health Insights with New Osteoporosis Report Last week, 23andMe+ Premium members gained access to our latest Osteoporosis report, leveraging our proprietary polygenic risk score (PRS) model to estimate their genetic likelihood of osteoporosis. Osteoporosis affects millions, yet it often goes undiagnosed until fractures occur. With genetics accounting for ~60-80% of the variability in bone density, this new report empowers individuals to take proactive steps in managing their bone health. 23andMe customers who consented to participate and advance genetic research helped contribute to a new landmark study led by The University of Edinburgh and King's College London, which looked at genomes of 5M+ people across 29 countries to uncover ~300 previously unknown genetic links to depression. The results of this new study stand out for the diversity of the data set and have implications for reducing ethnic disparity in future advances in genomic medicine.
