At 220, we help youth become leaders in work and life. ?? We partner with youth-serving organizations through our comprehensive program designed to help students build leadership skills, enhance personal development, and prepare for success in all areas of life. Through our courses in leadership, personal finance, workforce readiness, resume building, interview skills, and entrepreneurship, we help older youth build skills around their confidence, organization, goal-setting, and ability to overcome challenges. We encourage self-reflection, persistence, and a mindset that even the most ambitious goals are achievable. Our programs equip students with practical skills like resume writing, interview preparation, financial planning, and entrepreneurial thinking, fostering their overall growth and readiness for the future. We work with Schools & Districts, Charter Schools, Out-of-School Time Networks and Programs, Community-Based Organizations, Local, Regional & State Workforce Agencies, Summer Youth Employment Programs, Job Corps Centers and College & Post-Secondary Institutions. Last week, I had the pleasure of thought partnering with Dr. Prissy LeMay, Kevin Maxwell, Ed.D. , Michael Raisor, Ph.D., MBOE, LSSBB and others on the evergreen topic of supporting student development of key employability skills. Matthew Moheban and Joseph Moheban shared 220 Youth Leadership’s work to help increase the number of youth who are able to achieve their second-to-none potential. In the employability skills discussion, it’s critical that we don’t forget those ages 16 - 24 who are neither enrolled in school nor participating in the labor market. That’s about 1 in 9 members of this age group in the U.S. I was inspired by 220 Youth Leadership’s focus on the over 5 million opportunity youth. It was a great reminder to keep these young people in mind as we continue our work to reimagine education and employment pathways.

We were chatting with a principal the other day, and they shared something really innovative—they’re rewarding 8th graders who dive into career readiness programs using tools like LinkedIn Learning and financial literacy training. It’s a creative way to keep students engaged while teaching them valuable skills like managing money and exploring career paths before they even step into high school. This approach is helping kids connect the dots between what they learn in school and how it applies to real life. I love seeing schools think outside the box to set up students for success!
