We are proud to be a Inform USA member and represent Michigan!
Years ago, Jay Wilkinson described Nebraska to me as “the middle of everywhere,” (rather than the middle of nowhere:-). These past few days the board leadership of Inform USA gathered there from all corners: Hawaii, Canada, D.C., Portland, and many other places to talk vision and strategy for the future. During a crazy blizzard, from a conference room in Omaha, it felt like we were designing a future for human services that could become the epicenter of a world of good. Special shout out to Lindsay Paulsen and Steve Rippe for hosting us, and venturing into a major blizzard to feed the troops. The space and hospitality at United Way of the Midlands is unparalleled. The Midland Area Community Foundation hosts the quarterly meeting of the Mental Health Coalition, a group of mental health providers, administrators, and advocates working together on our community-wide goals around mental health. Shared connections and resources in this space are imperative to help ensure all residents thrive. One of the coalition members, The Great Lakes Bay Mental Health Partnership, is once again offering a series of Mental Health Training opportunities this spring. These essential trainings provide participants with the tools they need to identify, understand and respond to someone who may be experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge.
