It's official, it's #211Day in Buffalo! Executive Director of Citizen Services Oswaldo Mestre Jr. presented the official proclamation to Dawn Vanderkooi of VIA: Visually Impaired Advancement, Trina Burruss of United Way of Buffalo & Erie County, and Kelly Dodd of 211 New York, Inc. and United Way of New York State on behalf of Buffalo Mayor Chris Scanlon. ED Mestre was very thoughtful about how 211 is such a powerful tool to provide equal access to services in the community. It's not about who you know, who's in your network, or what rooms you can walk into, it's about knowing the right number to call when dealing with life's challenges! 211 - community health & human services 311 - city services 911 - life and safety emergencies 988 - mental health crisis

It’s after 7p. You may be at home after a hard day at work, leaving what didn’t get done today until tomorrow. Not 211 - the staff at 211 are still hard at work answering calls and giving assistance 24/7/365 because the problems don’t call it a day at 5pm and neither do we. 211 knows that the best time to call is when you have time to call, whether that’s after work, or after you’ve put the kids to bed. 211 understands a new set of challenges may face you at home, putting food on the table, paying the heat, finding after school care for your kids and support for your aging parents.
