  • Hello, I would like to introduce myself as the new President & CEO of 1st State Bank. I have spent much of my professional career in banking and joined the 1st State Bank team in 2017. Of the many attractions to join the Bank, there was none more important to me than the mission to serve local businesses. At 1st State Bank we are proud to call the Great Lakes Bay Region our home. We also pride ourselves in being the “Bank for Business” for companies throughout the Great Lakes Bay Region. 1st State Bank was founded in Saginaw in 2004 under the belief that no business should be turned away based on industry and that all businesses deserve a fair shot at success. We see the Great Lakes Bay Region as an area full of potential and growth for businesses, whether be a startup or a multi-generational organization. For the past 20 years, we have strived toward that goal. We have built a team of talented, sophisticated, dedicated bankers, and formed a strong Board of Directors, all living or working in, and committed to the success of the Great Lakes Bay Region. The Great Lakes Bay Region holds great meaning to me personally. Upon moving to Saginaw as a young boy, my family dealt with the loss of my younger brother to cancer. Through that tragedy, we learned how wonderful and caring the people were, and the value of a community support system. It was this that brought my wife, a Saginaw native, and I back to Saginaw to raise our own family. Returning as an adult, your focus is different in many ways, but the value of community and the people that are in it remain. The connection that I have with Saginaw, and now the Great Lakes Bay Region is the driving force to my board associations with organizations like the Saginaw Community Foundation, Bay Future, and the Great Lakes Regional Alliance, each of which works diligently to bring continued improvements and growth to our region. When I joined 1st State Bank in 2017, it didn’t take long for me to realize that I was in the right place, and I am excited to lead the next chapter of 1st State Bank, with continued focus on 1st State Bank’s mission of helping businesses in the Great Lakes Bay Region succeed.   • On Saturday, as the proud Entertainment Sponsor of the Saginaw County Chamber of Commerce Chairman's Ball - Saturday in the Park, our 1st State Bank team had the privilege of attending this fundraising event that honors the outgoing and incoming chairs of the Board of Directors. We also extend our Congratulations to Pat Curry of Fullerton Tool for receiving the Annual Corporate Community Service Award during the event, which recognizes corporate commitment and involvement in the community.
