Starting tomorrow, First Responders Children’s Foundation is expanding our Mental Health Resiliency Program nationwide with a free virtual Teen Resiliency Training, in partnership with our incredible, culturally-competent mental health experts at F1RST. Our first responders sacrifice so much to protect us, but their children often carry emotional burdens no one sees. This program empowers teens to understand how trauma affects the brain, recognize personal triggers, and build real, lasting coping strategies. These kids show strength every day — now it’s our turn to give them the tools they need to thrive. If you, or someone you know, is interested in supporting this program, contact Randy Acosta. Our team was honored to join CSX at The Players Championship, where we experienced firsthand their #PrideinService commitment. This event brought together incredible nonprofit partners, creating opportunities to connect, learn, and explore future collaborations that will support our nation’s first responders and their families. A huge thank you to CSX and their amazing team, including Bryan Tucker, LaSandra Boykin, Angela C., and Santreese Simmons, for hosting such a meaningful gathering. We had a fantastic time connecting with fellow nonprofit partners like Hiring Our Heroes, Operation Gratitude, Operation Homefront, United Way of Northeast Florida, City Year, Blue Star Families, and Wounded Warrior Project. The power of partnership is undeniable, and we’re excited about what’s ahead!

At First Responders Children’s Foundation, our scholarships are more than just financial aid—they're a gateway to a community of support, mentorship, and professional growth. Through our Scholar’s Council Speaker Series, we connect our scholars with inspiring professionals who understand the first responder experience firsthand. We were honored to feature two incredible speakers: ???? Amy O'sullivan, BSN – An ER nurse at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, Amy treated the hospital’s first COVID-19 patient and was featured on the cover of TIME Magazine. ?? Sara Speed, LMHC – A therapist at Bayview Therapy - a Fort Lauderdale Counseling & Psychology Group Practice specializing in first responder mental health, Sara is a Certified First Responder Counselor and EMDR Therapist, helping first responder families navigate trauma and resilience. Through events like this, FRCF scholars gain real-world insights, mentorship, and connections that empower them on their journey—whether they pursue careers in healthcare, mental health, public service, or beyond.

Thanks to Jasmine Viel and KCAL News for capturing the special moment when CEO Jillian Crane and our LA partners at SERVPRO Global DRT delivered a $10,000 check to Los Angeles County Fire Department Captain Aleksander Edwards. Capt. Edwards, his wife, and his young daughter lost their home in the recent Palisades wildfires and hope this grant will help his family begin the long rebuilding process. Were so grateful to SERVPRO and the generosity of the entire family of teams for their support of first responder families.
