On Tuesday, First National Bank hosted "Bank Day" in partnership with the Virginia Bankers Association! We had the pleasure of hosting seniors from Dan River, Gretna, and Altavista High Schools, who learned more about managing their financial futures and how we support our community. Each student will use this information to write an essay that will be judged against other students across the state for a chance to win up to $8,000 in scholarship money! First National is also proud to award two of these students $500 scholarships based on the judging of their essays by a panel of our employees. We would like to thank Landen Mays, Janet Whitehead, Sherease Booker, Bryan Lemley, Jim Minear, Tracie Gallahan, and Brit Campbell for being presenters during the event. Recently, our very own Susan McLamb and Kathy Bane attended the kick-off ceremony for the Virginia Reads One Book (VAROB) program at Meadville Elementary School! We are proud to sponsor Meadville Elementary in this year's program. ?? Along with participating in the assembly, each read the opening chapter of this year's book, "The Lemonade War" by Jacqueline Davies, to a class! ?? In addition, our Teresa Patrick and Josie Santiago Cruz participated in the program by reading chapters of the book in both English and Spanish!
