I started to think of my why. Why did I begin Our Village Services? The answer was simple: I wanted to help as many people as possible. I let people know that EVERYONE HAS SOMETHING, WE JUST DON'T TALK ABOUT. However, I knew I couldn't do it alone. In 2019, I opened the doors to a group practice and asked my colleague to help provide mental health services to people who look like us. Five years later, we continue to grow. We are expanding with our?School-Based Suspension Division Program?and Breaking Barriers Fund, which furthers our reach to provide mental health services and education. The body keeps the score. A must read book by Bessel van der Kolk for any one who works with people. Unresolved trauma, or wounds, will pop up in present moments through our bodies. Therapy, breath work, excerise, are all ways we can support our bodies and minds to heal and get us out of our sympathetic nervous system (fight, fight, freeze state) and back into our para sympathetic nervous system (rest and digest state) which supports our healing. #thebodykeepsthescore #restanddigest #trauma #therapy #breathwork
