National Apprentice Week is here, and it is critical to highlight the work and progress Philly is doing in the technology sector. I had an amazing opportunity to join this morning’s Kickoff event at Accenture. Jordan Rambo started us off with welcoming remarks and the success they’ve seen with apprenticeships. Councilmember Katherine Gilmore Richardson emphasized the importance of economic development and mobility for the city while Technical.ly and 1Philadelphia provided stats on the state of workforce development. Huge shout out to the Urban Technology Project and Shana Savage for receiving the Leader of the Year Award. Congrats to Chubb- Apprenticeship Employer of the Year and Jahniya Knox- Rising Star Apprentice of the Year. Phenomenal event, dynamite conversations and authentic networking. Lastly, I had the privilege of speaking with Qayla Dabney, an apprentice at Aon and Community of College of Philadelphia student. Ya’ll, keep an eye out for this amazing professional, she’s doing big things!! Haniyyah B. Sharpe-Brown, as always thanks for being awesome! #workforce #apprenticeship #tech #industry #Philadelphia #employers #jobs
