Nabors helping older neighbors!

关于我们

Naborforce's tech enabled platform connects aging adults to a network of “Nabors” for social engagement and on-demand support with errands, transportation and help around the home. Our company and culture is inspired by JOY to promote engaged, productive and connected aging and living. 11,000 Baby Boomers are turning 65 EVERY DAY. Naborforce is addressing this growing segment of the market that has been largely unmet to date — aging adults that may not need or be ready for a “caregiver,” but could benefit from light assistance and social connectedness from time to time. ON-DEMAND SERVICES | HOME ? ERRANDS ? TRANSPORTATION Naborforce is on-call for the things an older adult’s children or neighbors might help with if they were available. Our goal is to take some of the stress away so that they continue to enjoy all that’s most important to them.

I can’t stop thinking about Gene Hackman’s passing. Yes, he was 95, and despite being one of the greatest “everyman” actors of our time, he intentionally chose a quiet, somewhat isolated life with his wife of more than 30 years as his sole caregiver. But the thought of him spending over a week confused and alone in his home before passing is something I can’t shake. No one should be alone. It’s a stark reminder of the importance of community. What if a neighbor had checked in on him? The outcome may not have changed, but he wouldn’t have been entirely alone. A strong community means looking out for one another—ensuring no one is left to navigate aging in isolation. Sometimes, being a good neighbor is as simple as a shared conversation, a quick visit, or a small gesture that reminds someone they’re not forgotten. At Naborforce, we see the profound impact of these small acts every day. Let’s take this as a reminder to check in, reach out and be there for the people around us. #community #agingwithdiginity #beagoodneighbor #agetech

Earlier this week, we shared how Naborforce fits into the care circle. While many of our clients come to us at the front end of the care continuum, we often accompany them through their entire care journey—even to the very end. Human connection is vital at every stage of life. We are often named in our clients' obituaries—a testament to the profound impact we make, even though we typically spend just 3-4 hours a week together. That speaks volumes. The companionship—and true friendship—we offer matters. #agingwell #caregiving #care #companionship #connection #olderadults

Naborforce sits at the very front of the care continuum, often before the notion of “care” is even contemplated, but we ultimately play a?crucial?role in the overall circle of care, driving positive healthcare outcomes for our clients. ? We provide self-directed, on-demand support for aging in place and social engagement. This is?essential?for older adults who?strive?to maintain independence, autonomy and control.?Some clients may need?a little bit of support to stay safely in their home (light help with things that are not quite as easy or safe as they once were), some may need help with transportation, while others look to Naborforce to provide companionship, reducing loneliness and isolation. ? Many of?our clients eventually?require?support that falls?beyond our scope. That’s when CNA’s, therapists and nurses step in. But, the benefits that Naborforce provides?actually?complement these?other layers of care.?Research undeniably shows?that keeping older adults engaged and connected?leads to?better overall health,?regardless?where their needs fall on the care continuum. For this reason, we remain a vital part of the care circle, often supporting clients throughout their entire journey, even through hospice care. #care #olderadults #aginginplace #agetech #startup

Elizabeth Miller, CCC?, CSA? recently hosted our founder, Paige Wilson, on her Happy Healthy Caregiver podcast. In this episode, Paige shares insight into how her own caregiving journey was the motivation behind starting Naborforce. And in keeping with the theme of the podcast, Paige also talks about how Naborforce has become an invaluable resource for family caregivers who want to do it all but understand that in order to be an effective - and "happy and healthy" - caregiver, it's important to ask for help. #familycaregiver #caregiverburnout #agingparents #agetech

A recent third-party survey revealed that 50% of older adults, who do not yet require in-home care, need assistance just a few times a week. This is consistent with what we see at Naborforce. Our average client uses us just a couple of times per week for an hour or two. That small amount of assistance and social engagement is all it takes to help a senior stay connected and in the home they love while providing a small break and peace of mind for their families. We are bridging the gap between those needing minimal help -- where family can easily step in -- and those who require regular, daily assistance, which is best served by traditional home care. #independentaging #agetech #aginginplace #familycaregiving

Adult children are deeply worried about their aging parents feeling lonely. In a recent survey, they prioritized having a resource to keep their parents engaged and connected over assistance with household tasks or rides to appointments. Families are rightly concerned about their aging loved ones’ social engagement. It has been well-documented that loneliness can be as deadly as heart disease or diabetes. Older adults face increased risk of loneliness and social isolation due to factors like distance from family, the loss of friends, and reduced social interactions from giving up driving. Surprisingly, even those living in lively senior living communities can still experience loneliness. As our Surgeon General, Dr. Vivek Murthy, emphasizes, “We are called to build a movement to mend the social fabric of our nation. It will take all of us. Answer that phone call from a friend. Make time to share a meal. Listen without distractions. Perform an act of service. The keys to human connection are simple yet profoundly impactful.” Or, as one of our Nabors beautifully put it, “It’s the ministry of being present. #socialisolation #loneliness #community #agetech

Independence is often viewed as a goal for older adults, but is that truly what they desire? From the moment we are born, we are ALL dependent—navigating a life of interdependence. What older adults really seek is autonomy, agency, and control over their lives. It can be challenging for them when they find themselves unable to make certain decisions or rely on others for tasks that were once simple. We often advise adult children against being "helicopter children." It’s important to respect our parents' autonomy, allowing them to maintain control over their own lives. While offering help is valuable, unless there are cognitive impairments or other issues, we should enable them to make their own choices whenever possible—even if that doesn’t fit the traditional definition of “independence.” We have a client who wanted to visit the shoe store for an after-Christmas sale. Her daughter was resistant, citing the chaos of the mall that weekend and saying, “Mom, you don’t need any more shoes anyway!” Our client firmly responded, “I’m 86, and if I want to go shoe shopping, then I should be able to go shoe shopping.” She did go to the mall. And she did purchase not just one, but two new pairs of shoes. Did she need them?? That wasn’t the point. #aging #independentaging #ageism #eldertech #caregiving
