Did you know this week is National Court Reporting and Captioning Week? Recognized from February 1-8, 2025, the weeklong event highlights the many aspects of court reporting and captioning that make it a viable profession, including good salaries, flexibility, interesting venues, and the increasing demand for more reporters and captioners to meet the growing number of employment opportunities available in the field. The event highlights the essential need of human court reporters and captioners' and their vital role in providing the most accurate mode of capturing the spoken word and turning it into text. The nationwide event, sponsored by the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA), is celebrated by court reporters, captioners, legal videographers, and others involved in the legal community. This year is the event’s 13th year of observance with the theme: The Real AI: Accuracy & Integrity. NCRA is the country’s leading organization representing stenographic court reporters, captioners, and legal videographers. “No matter how advanced, AI cannot replicate the human element when it comes to capturing the record.” -NCRA President Keith R.
