In 2011, an elevated portion of Interstate 195 cutting through Providence was relocated, freeing over 26 acres of former highway land for redevelopment. The quasi-public I-195 Redevelopment District and its oversight Commission were created to oversee the sale, marketing and redevelopment of this land. The new Providence Innovation & Design District features 19 acres of developable land and 7 acres of open space.

Last night, the 195 Commission voted to approve the concept plan for CV Properties, LLC's Dyer Wharf project. Designed by SGA (Boston | New York) and the first of three planned developments on 195 Parcels 14/15 and an adjacent parcel, the project has 214 units and ground floor retail facing 195 District Park.
