NEVER BE A FAKE! Never think like one! Never act like one! Something said to agents in this industry irritates the blue right out of my eyeballs. You've most likely heard it elsewhere as well... "Fake it til you make it." What the hell kind of message is that? Not here, not at 1912 and hopefully not to anyone you Love. In a world where the proper mindset is a proven and positive force, how could you even think people should start off as a fake? What's the message there? It's certainly not positive. I don't ever want anyone being a fake. How could you desire anyone to engage a client or consumer with that phrase in their head? Fake, Phony, and an Impostor? Become that which you must become in order to achieve that which you want! Do that! Be a forward thinking, visualization machine focused on who you have to become and GET THERE. Be driven to learn, be driven to grow, be ready to Fail and embrace it. I'll take that F word any day over the Fake one. Don't fake a damn thing. Admit what you don't know while learning all you can. Get in your repetitions of doing the things you need to do before making a client your experiment. I'm at year 23 and I'm far from perfect. I've met first year agents that handle themselves better and know their craft better than 10 year veterans and $10M producing agents. Time and production do not equate to professionalism. Professionalism and intentional improvement along with growth leads to professionalism. Don't confuse them. Where do you want to be and how do you want to be seen and most importantly HOW DO YOU WANT TO SERVE? Find that space and move there swiftly. Last month I was elected back to the Board of Directors for the Arizona Regional Multiple Listing Service for a 3yr term. It’s an honor and responsibility I don’t take lightly. Why run for a seat? Because staying informed and active in a fast changing industry is important. Because Arizona Regional MLS is an essential company to residential real estate agents in our markets. Because the process of homeownership is actually being compromised in many ways and solution thinking beats complaining any day. Because engaging and listening to people across the country provides helpful insights into the future of the industry I’m growing a business in. Because it’s all worth the investment. It was a great first conference to attend since being elected, CMLS 2024, the Council of Multiple Listing Services.
