Yesterday we welcomed friends and family to Mid-Bronx to celebrate the life of Joseph Mpa. We welcomed back the first Executive Director of the 161st Street BID Dr. Cary Goodman and others. We also announced the Joseph Mpa Community Service Award that will be given out at our annual meeting on December 5 to an individual or group that exemplifies the love for the 161st Street community like Joseph did. Special thanks to all that came out and celebrated a great man. Please be sure to visit the mural of Joseph at the community garden between Gerard and Sheridan Avenue created by?Andre Trenier. We will be working with the?the Horticulture Society of New York in 2025 to ensure this garden that Joseph took care of is the best that it can be.

Several hours ahead of Game 3 on Oct. 28, restaurants, bars and sporting goods shops within the?161st Street Business Improvement District?(BID) were packed with celebrating fans, both indoors and at tables lining River Avenue. And not all were ultimately headed across the street for the game: amid sky-high ticket prices, many were expected to watch on TV from the comfort of local businesses.
