In November 1977, what became known as the 1st International Conference on Geosynthetics (1 ICG) was held in Paris, France. In the 47 years since that first gathering (seen here with Dr. JP Giroud in the center), the field of geosynthetics and the International Geosynthetics Society (IGS) have engaged all sectors of civil engineering and contributed beneficially to lower infrastructure costs, extend infrastructure service lives, and improve sustainability, climate change response, and environmental protection. Hello from #Montreal! ???? In exactly two years from today the International #Geosynthetics family will be celebrating our 13th International Conference on Geosynthetics (13 ICG) in #Canada. ?? Your Organizing Committee is already hard at work to make this event truly memorable. Attendees will have the chance to dive into a curated technical program, build industry connections, and, of course, explore the beautiful and historic city of Montreal. ??? The event will be held at the Palais des Congrès de Montréal, with activities both inside and outside the exhibition center. The theme of the conference will be #Legacy, #Evolution & #Revolution. We’ll celebrate the key milestones of our geotechnical,civil and environmental engineering solutions, while exploring how these unique materials are evolving to address the changing challenges of our society and environment ?? A key focus will be on the current and next generation of professionals who will lead the industry into the future, shaping how geosynthetics evolve and rise to meet tomorrow’s demands. ??????????
