Celebrating the Success of SOA Tanzania’s 4th Ocean Bootcamp 2024! We are thrilled to share the incredible impact of our 4th cohort of Ocean Bootcamp 2024, where 50 passionate young leaders were trained to champion ocean conservation and climate activism! ???? Over a transformative week (September 23-29), fellows learned about global campaigns like Defend the Deep, the High Seas Treaty, and Climate Justice, gaining insights into the State of African Report 2024 by the Africa-Europe Foundation . They also made their mark with hands-on action, planting 2,000 mangroves in Bagamoyo during Ocean Action Day! ???? Some reflections from our amazing participants: ??? "Learning about climate justice has opened my eyes. I now know that our actions can build a larger movement for justice." – Neema Theonest ??? "The Bootcamp equipped me with tools to lead change. In June, I completed the Namibia Renewable Energy Fellowship, and I’m truly honored to have been selected as one of the 35 fellows. The fellowship began with Green Leaders Academy modules, where we explored topics such as civic engagement, leadership and environmental literacy. Throughout the program, we also participated in numerous in-person and virtual master classes on renewable energy. This experience has not only expanded my knowledge of renewable energy but also fueled my enthusiasm to contribute to impactful changes in the pursuit of a sustainable future. The fellowship concluded with a special wrap-up session at the U.S. Embassy, featuring guest speaker Frans Kalenga, BEng, MSc, MBA Many thanks to 10 Billion Strong, U.S. Embassy Namibia, Institute for Public Policy Research , Future Africa International Namibia and Patrick Arnold for making this experience possible! https://lnkd.in/dChKQKhi

My Experience at the Green Leaders Academy The Green Leaders Academy, organized by 10 Billion Strong, has been a transformative journey for me. From May to June 2024, I had the privilege of participating in this flagship program, which focuses on environmental literacy, leadership development, and civic engagement. Key Moments and Leadership Models Throughout the course, I was inspired by the excellent leadership models presented. The program's structure, comprising 15 comprehensive modules, allowed me to delve deeply into topics such as ecosystems, sustainable development, and the circular economy. The flexibility of the online Learning Management System (LMS) enabled me to learn at my own pace, ensuring a thorough understanding of each subject. One of the most impactful moments was the live sessions with expert speakers. These sessions provided invaluable insights into real-world environmental challenges and solutions. The opportunity to engage with a global community of environmental leaders from over 100 countries was equally enriching. Sharing experiences and strategies with peers broadened my perspective and reinforced the importance of collective action in tackling climate change. The Green Leaders Academy has empowered me to be a leader in environmental stewardship. By tackling climate change together, we can ensure a healthier planet for generations to come. This experience has not only equipped me with essential skills but also ignited a passion for making a tangible difference in my community as an Alumni and trainer. These acquired skills will be used to train and equip youths of my community and those at International Community Fellowship Foundation ICFF and ICF Children I am profoundly grateful to the 10 Billion Strong Academy for this opportunity. Hereinto, the world’s population living in cities is estimated to rise to 80% by 2050. The urban growth will chiefly occur in the cities located in the Global South, inter alia in China, India, and Nigeria even if the consumption of the richest nations could be tenfold that of the poorest. Notably, consumption in Asia is anticipated to increase exponentially as the continent hosts the majority of the world’s megacities home to over 10 million dwellers.
