A civil rights icon, diplomat, and champion for justice, Ambassador Young has dedicated his life to paving the way for equality, economic empowerment, and global change. His impact is immeasurable, from walking alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to serving as Mayor of Atlanta, a U.S. Congressman, and Ambassador to the United Nations. His wisdom and leadership have shaped history and continue to inspire generations. We are especially honored to recognize him as a distinguished member of 100 Black Men of Atlanta, where his legacy of mentorship and empowerment strengthens our mission to uplift the next generation of leaders. Reflecting on the Second Annual Violence Prevention Symposium hosted by The 100 Black Men of Atlanta, we're inspired by the impactful leadership of Co-Chairs Joshua Byrd, JD, Larry Johnson, and Andjela Kessler. Their vision and dedication to addressing gun violence have sparked crucial conversations and strategies for real change—from bolstering community advocacy to strengthening our Office of Violence Prevention. The symposium was a group effort between Emory University, Emory Healthcare, The Satcher Health Leadership Institute at Morehouse School of Medicine, The Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change (The King Center) , and sponsored by Kaiser Permanente and Georgia Power Company.
