#PayAttention. The nonprofit industry is not safe. It's time to mobilize against what some are calling the "Kill Nonprofits Bill." Congress needs to recognize our industry for the force that it is--12.8 million jobs or nearly 10% of private-sector employment in the nation. Tony Macklin, CAP? provides a link to the text of the bill below and many have come out in opposition including the Council on Foundations, United Philanthropy Forum, National Council on Nonprofits, and more. Rusty Stahl is rallying the field, so follow him for more info.
This morning, the U.S. House passed H.R. 9495 which allows the presidentially-appointed Secretary of the Treasury to unilaterally strip a #nonprofit of its status if deemed, without any explanation, a “terrorism-supporting” organization. In a United Philanthropy Forum webinar, speakers thought the Senate likely won't move this forward, and if it did, President Biden won't sign it. BUT, that doesn't mean the idea won't come back in the next Congress. Bill: https://lnkd.in/eiT5Exyr Roll call vote results: https://lnkd.in/gt-4bn2t NPQ article: https://lnkd.in/gGiZK9dm
