You've just completed a sales training session. How can you effectively put the feedback into action?

After completing a training like mine on the LinkedIn Learning platform or Sayless Academy, people feel energized and excited. The problem is you’re getting a TON of information which makes it overwhelming to execute. That’s why I always recommend focusing on the most simple foundational concepts for the first three weeks to create successful habits. Chew your food slowly and don’t try to gobble it all down????.

It’s important to remember that insight isn’t action. For us to turn those insights into effective habits we need to review and reinforce what we’ve learned. Write a simple plan of how you intend to use your new skills and pick two to start with. Attach the new habit you want to form to an existing habit or routine as this will make it easier to remember and you’ll be more likely to take action. Once you are regularly doing those two, pick another two, and so on

Effectively putting feedback into action after a sales training session involves a structured and strategic approach. Begin first by meticulously analyzing the feedback to identify themes and key areas for improvement, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the insights provided. Develop a targeted and specific action plan that prioritizes these areas, incorporating detailed, measurable objectives and timelines to track progress. Finally, implement the plan with diligent follow-up and continuous monitoring, adjusting strategies as necessary to optimize performance and achieve the desired outcomes.

Go over the feedback thoroughly to ensure you understand it completely. Identify the key areas where improvements are needed.

Translate the feedback into specific, actionable goals. For instance, if the feedback was about improving your closing techniques, set a goal to practice and refine your closing pitches.

Develop a detailed plan outlining the steps you need to take to achieve your goals. This could include daily practices, additional training sessions, or new strategies to try.

Keep track of your progress by setting measurable milestones. This can help you see improvements and stay motivated. Don’t hesitate to ask for help from colleagues, mentors, or managers. They can provide additional insights, role-playing opportunities, or advice.

Regularly reflect on your progress and be open to adjusting your approach based on what’s working and what’s not. Stay committed to ongoing learning and improvement. Sales is a dynamic field, and continuous skill development is crucial.
