Vários aspectos s?o visualizados, como qualidade do trabalho, cumprimento de metas e objetivos, disponibilidade para a??es extra, habilidades de lideran?a, boa gest?o de conflitos, auto conhecimento, e fatores individuais que v?o sendo demonstrados. What is a Promotion. It's the recognition of your good consistent performance - right? So, before one asks for his/her promotion - it's very important to do self evaluation honestly. One can say lies to the world except himself / herself. Be your own judge. Evaluate yourself on your own performance for last couple of years. Evaluate your own contributions towards your organization - whether those are inline with the organization's expectations or not. As a judge, if you see you have exceeded in these areas - you are ready for next level.

Once you are sure with your honest judgement that you are fit for next level / promotion - it's the time to put those on paper. Document your achievements with relevant proofs / official documents. Gather all those appreciation mails, good deliveries made, or deliveries made before date, etc. Get the feedback from your peers, subordinates, senior managers, managers, etc. to make it failproof. Where ever possible, quantify your contributions, achievements with numbers, metrices, %ages, etc., as numbers always speaks about Value that has been injected into the system - be it for your organization, be it for your client or for your team/project. Even Moms don't give milk till the time her baby cries!! Don't expect your manager will proactively work on your promotion. If you are super duper lucky - you may find such manager!!! On the other hand, once your documents are ready with all the proofs that you deserve to be promoted - book and appointment with your manager. This is very important so that you get undivided attention from your manager, while discussing your own promotion. Present your case neatly in front of your manager and explain why you think that you deserve to be promoted. Be confident, honest & professional while presenting your case. Talk on the prepared data, cause that will give you positive perspective. Be open for the feedback and ask for decision with timeline.

After the meeting, jot down all the points that you discussed with your manager. Mention the discussion points with clarity - be it positive feedback, if your manager agrees to promote you or be it identified areas of improvement, if your manager denies your promotion, with reasons and/or suggestions. Publish that meeting minutes with your manager so that it becomes an official document to refer in future - if required. This way you are demonstrating your commitment and dedication towards your manager and organization.

N?o.considero pedir promo??o uma boa estratégia. Em primeiro lugar o objetivo n?o é apenas trabalhar duro. é ser eficiente e gerar resultados. Pe?a feedbacks sobre seu desempenho ( caso eles n?o sejam oferecidos) e aproveite uma ocasi?o adequada ( revis?o de desempenho formal, almo?o etc) para ter uma conversa sobre o seu futuro na empresa. Evidentemente o que você vai ouvir pode n?o ser o que você espera. Ent?o esteja pronto para respostas motivadoras que te possibilitem abordar perspectivas de curto prazo ou para respostas evasivas ou negativas. Neste caso você deve come?ar a pensar numa mudan?a de trajetória profissional.

Personally I never asked for a promotion. My work should speak for itself and my peers and upper should recognize my assets as a leader. Now with that said every employee that I ever had who asked for a promotion was never ready for that promotion AKA position. Do your best each and every day and the promotion will come to you, you do not have to ask for it.
