Take note that when researching the market, your current job title may not be applicable if you’ve taken on more responsibility. That’s also one of the things you should ask. Your employer to do is to give you a new title that comes with more responsibility. Whether it’s becoming a manager Director or some otherrole, make sure your title reflects your new job responsibilities.

Give your direct manager a heads up. Tell them you’d like to talk to them about your compensation. They should know that the reason you are asking is because of the new responsibilities you’ve taken on. Try to equate those responsibilities to some sort of a dollar figure either increased revenue or cost savings to the company.

Make sure that if your ask, is declined, you set up time in the future to have the discussion again. I would suggest something along the lines of 3 to 6 months. If the feedback to you is a year or more, you need to fight that.The more responsibilities you take on, the more imperative, it is for you to get compensated for the extra work.
