In this case instead of doing everything alone, I would advise to delegate the tasks according to priority and take up the urgent task. Sometimes we hesitate to do this, but here our soft skills and communication helps. Even if you are multitasker, still learn to delegate wherever required.

I'll say, there are so many things that can be done and one of the things I'll say is using the Pareto Principle, which is the 80/20 rule. It helps to identify important tasks and ensures one focuses on them first before other things. Another one is the ABC rule which is making the most important and urgent task to be A, follow but the next important to be B, and then C... In all, discipline matters as it's not about how well these principles are known but how well they can be applied and that can only happen if one disciplines oneself enough.

When you have a lot of tasks, where all tasks may be deemed as urgent, on face value it may seem that way but one will always hold more urgency in comparison to the others. Firstly, map out all the tasks, resources needed to complete the tasks and how long they will take. Secondly, map out the ones that connect or may rely on the others. You can use critical path analysis for this if its in a project or a mind map will do as well. Finally work on the tasks following the chain and you will be surprised how well all these urgent tasks would be completed.

My job is never done, no matter how hard I work or prioritize. Instead of beating myself up about it, I focus on different parts of it on different days. Then when I have accomplished everything on the list for a given day, I can work on other projects. I find the most valuable tool I have is making a list every night before I go home. Ya know, I disagree with this, because I do believe that multitasking can be done effectively. There isn’t a job out there that is one dimensional , with employers cutting back on labor to balance costs. Most people can’t just take breaks all day long, it’s not realistic when you punch a time clock. Expectations are high and there are still only 8 to 10 hours in a shift. Multitasking includes being able to pick up where you left off when pulled away from a task. I try to find a good stopping point, so that going back to a task doesn’t create redundancy.
