An example I have experienced in one special item (Cable Barriers in a dedicated car Park) which was not practiced before. Solution?? I collect all technical data related to item ( i. e. BOQ, available Dwg, Spec, Designer report etc.) and focus study will, which things are missing in available data, that are not leading to me reach the conclusion as follows: a. The spec was not clear. b. The designer was not available in the local market. c. Raw materials were not available. d. Installation procedures were not not clear. 2. I took the approval for the specific (design criteria) from the Client. 3. Found the designer from Germany. 4. Raw materials from Italy, USA & UAE. Conclusions??Focus on available data that will drive your skills.

Will this improve my schedule or increase profit? If the answer is no, it’s not important. If the answer is yes, which one will it improve , the schedule or the profit? At the exact moment that decision has the be made, one will be more important. Do I need to spent $10k to save a week or can I save $10k by waiting a week. If it cost $10k a week to run the job the money is now irrelevant either way and only the schedule matters. Do you need it now or not? If the job cost $20k a week to run, the schedule is irrelevant and the money matters. If you have float in the schedule and no money, the money is important and if you have money and are behind schedule, the schedule wins. Address those items that matter first.
