Does your soul really want to be “productive” in this “hectic office”? You have one precious life. Do you want to sign it all away to capitalism while apps like this one try to commodify “mindfulness” as something to help you be a useful cog in an extractive machine? By all means, meditate. But meditate to free yourself from illusion. Meditation to become better friends with your heart. Life does not have to be “hectic”. You can change that and create the life your heart desires. Your days can be joyful, not simply manageable. Don’t let the system eat your dreams!

Here’s my experience and tips. Indeed, the world is moving faster and busier. While people generally connect productive as getting things fast and more things done within less time, productivity can be seen another way: 1) Leverage teamwork. Distribute the work to heads, hands and legs, based on strengths. Do not judge personally. Accept the quality of each. 2) Zoom out to see what’s the purpose and aim. Don’t lose sight as we navigate the daily gruels. Recenter self with significant silent pauses whenever we get too nitty gritty, numbed, addicted, explosive etc. 3) In mindfulness, we don’t multi-task. We focus with priority, one at a time, while returning to present by moments. We adjust to harmony with ease as we do in our being.

Mindfulness is about keeping one point of focus. Try imagining a lit candle in your mind’s eye and returning your attention to the flame again and again. This is equivalent to working a muscle with progressive resistance. The great management consultant Peter Drucker advised that productivity was about maintaining one point of focus - what he named “ first things first” ( and other things not at all)

Mindfulness when integrated with bioenergetic practices, are a powerful tool for maintaining productivity. I encourage clients to use breath work to harmonize energy flow and enhance focus. Exercises such as mindful breathing can reset your mental state and rejuvenate your energy levels in as little as 3 minutes. These practices help clear mental clutter, reducing stress and improving concentration. They also create a buffer against the chaos of a busy office, allowing you to remain grounded and productive. Integrating these techniques into your daily routine not only supports immediate focus but also fosters long-term resilience and well-being, ensuring that your productivity is sustained even in challenging work environments.
