Besides facing reality, the best thing to do is to take a hard look at all the projects which you set out to do from the beginning of the year. Look at which projects are of your highest priority. Also see which projects are ongoing and doesn't make sense to be cancelled. you must demonstrate that you've had a positive impact regardless of budget cuts.

Doing a cost analysis basically means trying to get the best bang for your buck. This means looking at not only the total cost of a project, but also the line items that make up your total budget. Are you able to reduce the total amount by cancelling some non-priority items within the budget? Are you able to stretch out the payments into the next fiscal year? Great, it would be worthwhile to have discussions with your windows to see if they are flexible in terms of payment. They will surely want to save the projects as they also have to. So make them partners in your cause to reduce any unnecessary costs and keep as many projects as possible.

Therefore this is a great opportunity to scrutinise the projects again to see what should you keep, and what should be discarded. Are there projects which are nice to have, but best to be done in another year when budgets are not so tight? Are there projects which are unnecessary and not aligned with division of organisation? Then now is the time to be strategic and only keep those which are prioritised.

Do not forget your external vendors, those who are engaged to help you with your project. as have the most to lose when the project gets cancelled, they can really help to figure out what to do to save them. They can even bring down in order to keep projects going.
