To maintain a coaching relationship while setting time boundaries, clearly communicate your availability from the start. Establish and agree on expectations for session length, frequency, and response times. Reinforce the importance of respecting these boundaries for both your well-being and the effectiveness of coaching. Be consistent in enforcing the agreed-upon schedule, while remaining flexible when necessary. Offer alternative ways for clients to seek support outside of scheduled sessions, such as through brief check-ins or resources. Stay firm but empathetic when boundaries are tested, explaining how they benefit the coaching process. Foster mutual respect by acknowledging the client’s needs while prioritizing your time and energy.
-
Set an agreeable time. Set expectations on the meeting and time duration. In urgent cases where there is a need to connect ask for a few minutes to discuss and keep it short and simple.
-
First establish the coaching agreement at the onset of the coaching relationship (macro level). The terms discussed and agreed to are then detailed in a coaching contract we both sign. If there are time boundary challenges, I will refer back to the agreement and ensure the client understands the process. If it continues to happen, I will get curious about what is making it challenging for the client. Understanding the client perspective and needs helps me to respond in an effective manner that addresses the client’s needs, preserves the relationship, and also respects the time boundaries established.

Maintaining a strong relationship with client involves clear communication, building trust, having empathy and being accountable.. it has to be a healthy process , setting up clear expectations from day one . Show genuine concerns and interest and be consistent. In communicating be honest whilst maintaining confidentiality with the outside world. Be understanding and empathetic while listening to the client . A good listeners wins the heart ?? of the opposite in maximum collaborations??????
