There are many ways to start learning. It's important to ask yourself with which way of learning do you feel more comfortable. I specially like self-paced learning as I can schedule the time to choose when I can study with no distractions. There are specific learning paths where you can start to see the basics and going a little bit further as you progress. For example, the IBM Center for Cloud Training has a lot of learning paths from entry level to Advanced Solution Architect. Other Hyperscalers or Cloud providers offer similar things.

Though we might also face gaps in our learning journey but that's natural and we should always focus on restating and learning again and again.

Setting goals are important for staying motivated. so we should set set small goals as small goals are easily achievable and increases your motivation level. goals can vary with person to person means how much time and attention can give.

In my experience, the best approach is a balance between theory & practice. You can read all the books, take all the training, watch every YouTube video, but if you never put it to use, you're unlikely to develop any real skill. On the other hand, you can spend all day and night in the AWS console & CLI, trying to learn by trial & error, & you may eventually learn, but it will take much longer than it needs to take, & there will be gaps in your knowledge that you aren't even aware of. So my advice is this: Spend 50% of your time reading, studying, etc, and spend the other 50% building and troubleshooting. And try to solve actual real-world problems, something meaningful (however small). This is the quickest path to mastery.

Practice makes perfect, especially in the cloud! The best way to really learn is by doing – getting your hands dirty builds knowledge that sticks. Plus, try writing LinkedIn posts or Medium articles about what you're learning. It'll help you remember things better and shows the commiunity what you know!

For instance, when I was wrapping up my AWS Solutions Architect certification, I spent weekends building mini-projects, like a simple web app hosted on AWS. think this is the best approach. I obtained my AWS Foundational certification, which primarily focused on theory. While I easily passed the exam with flying colors, I still lacked confidence in my cloud skills and struggled with the basics. Then, I identified my gaps and began practicing what I had learned from that certification. I believe that mistakes are the best teachers ever. When you continue practicing and learning, mistakes/errors will occur but they will drive you deep in that concept. How many times we fail that many times we learn something new and that's why failed one has more possibilities than the succeed one. Sometimes success stops learning more but failure never. It's upon us how we deal with mistakes and learn from them. I look positively to all them. Cloud has most possibilities and is never ending technology where many times we deal with new problem hence we should always prepare to face it.

Right now i have 2 years as a cloud security engineer. Start to learn a new technology as the cloud could be overwhelming because there are several services based on its use ( compute, security, data analytics, machine learning, devops, development, among others ) and also integrations between them in an architecture or solution. The best approach is to understand the basic of each one and little by little to have a base over all or at least a clear purpose of why you will need that service, then deep dive based on the most used over your role as cloud engineer. Finally to polish your knowledge you need to understand the tradeoff between services in the same category, what will be the best base on the solution that won’t be oversized.

I worked for a Danish firm for almost a quarter of a century and they have an expression about "slicing the elephant". Noone could eat an entire elephant in one go, but they could if they sliced it and ate it one piece at a time. And that's very much how to approach learning about cloud related technologies. You can't learn it all in one go so try to pick one part to focus on and then dedicate some study time to it. Starting at the bottom of the tech stack and working up is generally a sound approach too. But most of all be kind to yourself. Study but make sure you also have time to rest and don't feel you have to rush.

Your curiosity of the new skill will carry you further, if you could see it as a game and try to learn how to be better at it, your brain will comply. If you are emotionally affected right from the start, i.e., frustrated, negative self-talk, or simply resisting for some reason, the true learning will not take place. The internet is a wonderful source of learning. If you cannot grasp a material or concept one way, there are many other available tutorials to help you achieve your learning objectives. If you make it a work, it's now a chore. If you have fun and feel rewarded, you'll likely grasp the skill in no time.
