In the fast-paced world of social media, keeping your brand storytelling fresh is crucial. Here are strategies to stay relevant:
- Track trends with tools like Google Trends and BuzzSumo to understand what content resonates with your audience.
- Engage with followers by asking for their stories and incorporating user-generated content into your narrative.
- Experiment with different formats, such as short-form videos or interactive polls, to see what ignites engagement.

How do you ensure your brand's story adapts to the changing social media landscape?

Here's what I'd do: Big picture - Go one step back and understand why these trends are changing in the first place. They are a direct reflection of how the users of each platform want to use them. This will give you an idea of what's going to come next, so you can prep experiments in advance. Experiment - Set aside a fraction of your social content for experiments to gather data on what works and what doesn't. These could be basic variables like time to post, format etc, or bigger experiments like tone changes, design changes and more. Set a review groove - Build a cadence where you're reviewing best performing content on each platform with your team. Take note of the formats that work best, and how these have changed over time.
-
Your brand is your responsibility. Social media is very crucial for business these days. Don't forget you are a brand too, until you talk about your own self, how will the world know about it. Its not necessary to follow the trends always, being vocal and ensuring to be heard is equally important. Speak for what needs to be heard, make your point and share what you think is right.
-
If you're struggling to keep up with social media trends, focus on building a strong, consistent brand story that resonates with your audience. Instead of chasing every trend, prioritize authenticity, and tailor your content to what aligns with your brand values. Use data to understand which platforms and formats your audience engages with most, and create a content calendar to stay organized. Remember, a well-told story is more powerful than hopping on the latest trend.
-
Knowing what to say no to is often more important than saying yes to everything. Not every trend is one you must chase, especially if it is incongruous with your brand. Defining your brand's approach to trends and social media is important and can fall in the "if you're going to do it, do it right realm".
-
The key is to produce as much content as possible and see what works. Styling out your content is going to be time consuming and possibly expensive. Produce a lot of easy to execute ideas - tastings, experiences, pop quizzes - to engage your audience. Keep asking yourself - what’s our ‘give’? What are we wanting to offer our customers, audiences etc. One post a day on your channels is a good start, but you should be aiming for many more… Scrappy and plentiful is more effective and ‘real’ than curated and infrequent.
