Do nit just stop at talking to people at the company who have the position that you want. Talk to people at the company that used to have that position. Talk to people that left the company who had that position. Talk to competitors who have that position. The more information you have and the better research you do the more articulate and confident you will be. That should help you stand out in a positive way and increase your chances of success.

What you really need to know is what type of problems you are an expert in solving not what strengths you have. Look at all your roles and identify the problems you have solved over and over and over again. That's what you have mastered. You are an expert in solving that problem. Position yourself as an expert. Employers are looking for individuals who are experts in solving the type of problems they have, who can get them results, increase profits & reduce costs! You get hired to hit the business KPIs. The first step is to know what type of problems you are an expert in solving. Identify which companies right now have the problems you are an expert in solving. How much money you can make/save companies?

The message is the key here, you are going to make it all about them, the problems they are facing, not about you. Touch on the immediate problem they have that they want to solve ASAP. Hiring manger hire on a “want” not on a “need”. You get them to hop on a call with you, to tell them how to solve their problem. It works like magic.

Start writing LinkedIn posts, start writing content. Start commenting on others post. These two alone will not only boost your visibility but you will start making friends and start increasing your network. Join audio events on LinkedIn & unmute and start speaking by asking questions, contribute to the existing topic that is being discussed. Thisis another best way to meet people, make friends & increase your network. Ad value, dont ask for anything instead give. Give your knowledge. Share your expertise. Share how you have tackled a problem, the steps you took, solutions you implemented and results/outcomes. Give advice on how to go about solving X's problems, and how you have solved X's problem(S). This approach works like magic.

Reach out to connections and ask for an intro to the recruiter. If you dont have connections, find the recruiter or HR at the company and send them a message expressing why you! 3. Update your LI profile and make sure it reflects your current skills and what you stand for. Post articles, share, comment and engage with the company or things of interest to show potential employers more of who you are.

No one wants to do your thinking for you, so people will not help you unless you know what you want. -Take the time to gain career clarity that enables you to express what position title(s), function, type of company, area, and industries you want to work for or in. When you are clear on what you want, you get targeted when applying for positions and networking. When the positions you apply for are similar, you will also have a learning curve that improves your applications and interview performances. It is easier to find opportunities and much more fun to go for jobs you actually want.
