The number one way to engage your audience is ANNOTATE on the screen. Get them looking for your marker and pointing them in the direction you want them to be looking. Audio quality is top priority. I have seen many presenters, using low quality mics. This is not professional. Make sure your voice is transmitted perfect. Your visual is important but your voice is your key. Use highest quality sound technology. Invest in them.

I have attended webinars facilitated by persons who are not primarily English speakers. Even with good audio quality, it is most times difficult to fully comprehend them, so a worsened or interrupted audio quality means I practically did not attend the webinar. Whenever I notice that despite comments for the speaker to speak slower, adjust their mic etc., I begin to loose focus. This is the case for several webinar attendees. Speakers should pace themselves when speaking. Observe punctuation, preferably not rely on the in built mic and wear clip mics or lavalier mics for a more reliable sound. Are you engaging with the audience or lecturing them? Start by evaluating what you can do to improve. Leave the tools for when you are absolutely sure you’ve improved everything else.
