Resistant client are always tough nut to crack, they'll always oppose and make the tasks difficult, this is where diplomacy will help deal with such clients. Trust building should always be the first step and it starts with building relationships. This will only make the handling of resistant client much easier. Good negotiations also work better and making them believe that the solutions they're offered are the best and very cost effective too.

It always boils down to the "why"! Why are they resisting, and what is their root cause? Like any approach to negotiation, spending more time truly understanding the other side, being flexible in your approach, and meeting somewhere in the middle are options that help get to a better situation. My three C's would be connect, converse and and check in frequently.

Rather than break down barriers create a bridge of connections and see where the two of you can align together. But, before you can do this ask yourself these questions: 1.Have I truly actively listened to them and their needs? 2. What common grounds do I have that are relatable? 3. Have I made them feel safe enough to be vulnerable with me? 4. What have I NOT done to create that bridge? 5. What is their body language, tone or messaging telling me how to best respond to them? Come at it from their angle and work backwards to how you can create the bridge. It takes a lot of reflection and strategic thought process to understand how to break the ice and create that bridge to a lasting client relationship.

To ensure a smooth process when facing difficulties with clients, several approaches can help. It is essential to establish transparent communication and ensure both sides understand the project scope, timelines, and expectations. Make a conscious effort to fully understand the client concerns. Let them feel heard and validate their frustrations without interrupting. Instead of focusing on the problem, shift attention toward finding practical solutions. Work collaboratively with the client to explore alternatives or adjustments that meet their needs. Ensure the client feels included by regularly asking for feedback and making necessary adjustments during the process to avoid major issues later.
