One life practice is, I prioritise Life over work because unfortunately, the “work over everything else” script is the default setting for everybody in society today. And if you truly need to prioritise well-being, then you need to ensure that the script is completely flipped. Workplaces are accustomed to having everything go their way and until and unless enough and more employees and managers continue to push back on incessant demands from workplace; the ecosystem is not going to change. So a few individuals may have to become the front runners of change and revolution, so others who may not have as big a voice, can benefit from an equitable work life ecosystem.

Balancing work and personal life is undoubtedly challenging, but instead of solely relying on mindfulness, some people do that by setting clear boundaries and prioritizing time management which can be equally effective by structuring specific times for work tasks and personal activities, they can create a rhythm that prevents one from encroaching on the other. Additionally, regularly reassessing priorities can help maintain a sustainable balance without relying exclusively on mindfulness practices. This approach allows people to actively shape their schedule around their personal values and goals, rather than simply responding to stress as it arises.

Mindfulness eradicates anxiety. Less anxiety creates more opportunity to experience joy and pleasure. For work and life balance we will need self care. An important part of self care is experience and comprehension of joy and pleasure.

When work and personal life feel like they’re constantly tugging at each other, mindfulness can be the grounding force that keeps you steady. By simply pausing to tune in to how you’re feeling – rather than running on autopilot – you start to notice the signals your body sends before burnout creeps in. Mindfulness isn’t about clearing your mind or “being zen” all the time; it’s a way to create small gaps in the noise. These little breaks allow you to recalibrate, breathe, and separate what truly needs your attention from what can wait. Over time, this practice helps you approach both work and life with clarity, kindness, and resilience – so you’re less likely to feel overwhelmed or worn out.

By practicing mindfulness, individuals can develop a keen sense of self-awareness and emotional regulation, enabling them to navigate workplace stressors with greater resilience and clarity. This conscious approach fosters a more harmonious transition between work and home, as it encourages setting clear boundaries and prioritizing tasks effectively. Moreover, mindfulness techniques such as focused breathing, meditation, and mindful pauses can enhance cognitive function, creativity, and productivity, ultimately leading to a more fulfilling and balanced life where both career aspirations and personal needs are met with equal attention and care.
