I believe goods should be packaged appropriately to ensure they remain safe and durable during transportation, ultimately satisfying and pleasing clients.

I find important to be informed and align with local regulations of the countries in which the packaging will be used. Using only recycled materials for food packaging is not always possible, and the focus should be on the recycling technologies in place rather than only considering the material itself. To make an example, it may be more convenient from an environmental sustainability point of view to use monomaterial plastic packaging if an established reclycing process is present in a specific country. In this way, you can achieve food safety whilst still boosting sustainability since you the destination of the packaging after disposal is clearly defined.

The risk of 'just" choosing recycled materials and then labelling the product as sustainable can make companies look like they are just green washing their company goals and thus remain competitive enough. True sustainability should be directed in choosing materials that are really envoirmentally clean. Thus reusable and compostable materials should be on the top of the goals you are aiming for when wanting to change your packaging. Aim for the best!
