Match terms from job descriptions to pass ATS checks and show relevance. Mention specific tools like Cisco IOS, AWS, VMware, or Spring Boot to display technical expertise. List relevant credentials like CCNP, ITIL, or AWS Certified Solutions Architect. Use action words like configured, deployed, and optimized with industry terms. Include Agile, DevOps, or ITIL to reflect your work approach. Use metrics, e.g., reduced network latency by 30%. Highlight niche expertise, such as Kubernetes or Kafka. Summarize impactful projects with details, e.g., led deployment of Cisco Meraki video surveillance. Mention compliance work, e.g., SSL/TLS integration or ISO 27001 adherence. Use terms wisely to ensure clarity without jargon overload.

You need your resume to apply to several readers: 1. ATS - automated system that scans resumes for role relevancy. They look for key words, relevant positions, and minimal qualifications (years of experience, technical skills, key words, competencies, etc.) 2. The recruiter - they look at your resume for 10-20 seconds. While they may know the role high level, they are not experts on the job itself. Write your resume to have key words pop out. 3. Manager/Hiring Team - they look at your resume more in depth. By this point, you have probably made a short list and are being identified to potentially interview. Ensure you can speak to all bullets and info on your resume.

To make your resume stand out, strategically incorporate industry-specific terminology by: 1. Use keywords directly from the JD relevant to your field to increase your ATS score. 2. Frame accomplishments using industry-standard terms to emphasize expertise. 3. Mention technical skills, 1-2 most relevant certifications, and tools specific to the industry. 4. Choose verbs that reflect industry knowledge, such as streamlined, facilitated, or orchestrated, paired with terms that demonstrate specific experience.

I have learnt and found a number of strategies to make a resume stand out. 1. Mostly, industrial terminologies for a particular job are mentioned in the job description. So amending resume while applying, one should go through those one. 2. Industry utilizes specific action words i.e. 'formulated', 'optimized' & 'implemented' etc. These action words can add clarity to accomplishments. 3. Industries prefer technical, analytical and problem solving skills, so on resume such skills must be highlighted. 4. Standards compliance and regulatory knowledge are crucial industrial terminologies which can be listed in the resume. Industrial terminologies are not limited to above mentioned ones however, these are considered the most significant.
