"It's all about relevance in the competitive market, where one has to listen to customers and put their feedback into the business strategy." Here's how I did this: Listen with intent: I made a habit to collect feedback through direct conversations, online reviews, and quick surveys. Act on insights: I highlighted common themes, then adjusted services based on customer needs to ensure they felt heard. Loop it: Informed customers about changes inspired by their feedback-building trust and loyalty in the process. This would build relationships, enhance offerings, and keep my business in tandem with customer expectations.

Customer feedback is one of the cornerstones of my business strategy. I regularly conduct surveys to gather insights into customer needs and preferences, monitor online reviews to spot trends and areas for improvement, and engage directly by responding to feedback promptly. Often, a negative situation is simply resolved into a positive situation with promptness and openness and lessons-learned.

Customer feedback has its place, but it shouldn’t dictate your ultimate direction. Small business owners must lead with vision, not cater to the loudest voices. Customers often don’t know what they truly want, and feedback is best for refinement, not reinvention. The most vocal critics aren’t always your ideal customers, and reacting to every opinion makes you chase trends instead of setting them. Instead, trust your expertise, anticipate market shifts, and stay true to your brand. Then tweak based on feedback. Your best customers will recognize your value, stick with you, and become your greatest advocates.

Own what your Customers are telling you, the good, the bad, and the ugly! Strive to do better because now you are keenly aware from the feedback.

Customer feedback is like getting the exam answers given to you during the test. It helps you get to the right answer faster and helps you confirm what you already knew. In real life, that’s cheating and we wouldn’t want to do that, but in business customer feedback is guiding your business to make better decisions that positively impacts your customers now and future. Many businesses, don't focus enough on customer feedback from ex-customers or prospects that chose not to buy. The positive feedback is validating, but it’s the constructive negative feedback that informs where your gaps exist so you can fill the holes. This would effectively increase customer retention, decrease churn and increase the number returning customers.
