This will save you valuable time and energy in the long run.

In my experience, doing running hackathons or events is a good way to find talented and motivated individuals. Specially when it comes to developers.(but it doesn't necessarily get limited there)

Creative screening can be a great tool (if done well). Don't ask the standard interview questions if they don't give you the signal you're looking for when making key hires. Ask questions pertaining to your specific culture, how the team works and even pain points you've run into as a business or in scaling and how this person would solve them. Dig into what they're passionate about, what lights them up and what motivates them.

This allows you to assess their performance in real-world scenarios and observe how they handle tasks relevant to your startup. Additionally, seek feedback from multiple team members involved in the hiring process to ensure a comprehensive evaluation from diverse perspectives.

I can say with a VERY high degree of confidence that the #1 reason people leave their job is that they’ve stopped learning and they are no longer growing. When an employee feels like they don’t have anything left to learn and there isn’t room for continued growth, that’s typically when they decide to start looking for a new challenge. *Many of you reading this have probably felt that way in your career. As a Founder, don’t forget that feeling. When evaluating a prospective candidate I encourage you to think about two things: Who will best improve your condition today? *AND* Does this person have the aptitude to learn new skills we could use in the future? The best retention hack is to allow people to grow with you over time.
