I've listened to the same song and sections of music on different speakers, headphones, car speakers.. and I've always tried to keep the volume at a level in which my head won't explode. It's always a good thing to invest in studio speakers that have sub external. It just makes the sound a lot better noted, and having a sound bar is good enough. I've listened to different music on surround sound too. But the speakers dont always have to be the most expensive, but try and go for quality speakers just because you will notice the difference.
