When one is starting a new role especially a leader externally moving in its important to remember that over and above your 30-60-90 day plan the first impression gets made in the first 1-2 conversations in the 1st week itself. They decide to invest in your tenure in the initial few weeks. They need to be convinced especially Direct reports. While you need to share your story and not resume with your reportees you also need to have done homework about them, wins and impacts by them over last few years. Feel they are valued by new boss who knows what the reportees job is. Don't overshare with reportees but inputs on vision, approach not just sweeping changes and how that vision will positively impact the reportee.
One thing I always advise people is to be themselves. Shows whats real! Your qualifications, experiences-, personality, character - there are many ways these can be helpful, by being honest. Don't always be afraid to accept your mistakes. after all, we are all humans and bound to make mistakes. Making mistakes shows that we are learning and growing. be confident in asking questions about things you don't understand or don't be afraid to show your ideas and suggestions where needed.

I think this depends on the job and level. Yes you should be polite and show up early but I don't think that should deter you from being somewhat critical if that's the expectation. Not every opportunity is an opportunity to be a yes man.

So even you can believe at first impression they are doing things wrong, probably there is a reason why the things ended up that way. FOCUS on understanding those reason and you will move faster than any other to build true value to your colleagues. Don't rush on showing your value. You already demonstrated as you have been contracted. So be patient and listen.
