The kick-off meeting is were you understand the business goals, the success metrics and user segments. The information from this meeting is what you build on going forward.

In my experience there are two main steps, by following these steps one can easily understand that what design process needs to be applied on any new project : Initiate Project Kick-off: Commence with a project kick-off meeting to gather essential information before delving into primary and secondary research methods. This meeting serves as the foundation, providing insights into business goals, success metrics, and user segments that inform the subsequent steps. Define Project Goals: Clearly articulate the project's overarching objectives, setting the direction for the entire design process. This step establishes a framework for subsequent activities and decision-making.

2 Define the scope

The next step is to define the scope of the project, which means setting the boundaries, objectives, and deliverables of the design process. This involves communicating with the client, the stakeholders, and the team to align on the vision, the requirements, and the constraints of the project. You can use tools, such as project briefs, stakeholder maps, or user stories, to document and prioritize the scope of the project. The aim is to clarify the purpose, the value, and the feasibility of the project.

3 Ideate the solution

The third step is to ideate the solution, which means generating and exploring various concepts and alternatives for the design. In the early stage, I found it useful to sit down with target users and conduct interviews while scratching wireframes together. No worry about their drawing skills, with pen and paper everyone can draw. These lo-fi prototypes on paper are starting points that effectively communicate the conceptual model between the users and designers. Wireframes also help the team to focus on the most important questions upfront.

4 Validate the design

The fourth step is to validate the design, which means evaluating and refining the design based on feedback and data. This involves testing the design with real users, measuring the usability, the desirability, and the effectiveness of the design, and identifying any issues or opportunities for improvement. Testing and validating designs is one part of the process I truly enjoy. This is where you get feedback on the efficiency and effectiveness of the solution you’ve designed. I usually favor A/B tests because you’re getting real feedback from real users, plus it’s usually a good sample size. Vs e.g five recruited participants in an unmoderated usability test. The latter though is good for first level refinement.

The final step is to implement the product, which means delivering and launching the design to the market. This involves collaborating with the developers, the marketers, and the stakeholders to ensure that the design is implemented according to the specifications, the standards, and the expectations. The aim is to be consistent, reliable, and supportive in launching the product.

One thing that has been helpful for me when starting a UX project is creating a task documentation. A document that converts the problems you want to solve, the context, and the final solution into an iteration approach.?It helps you have a good understanding of the product to be built and reminds you of the job when you face impediments during the design process.
