So if you have a resume where you need to read from top to bottom to understand your presentation, you have less chance to proceed. A chronological resume is a good alternative, and can be well made. There's just more risk with getting too creative.

If you are applying to similar roles there is no need to change your resume apart from a few keywords. If you don't know what these stories are, make a career folder that includes assessment results (for skills), kudos from managers, peers, customers, etc., performance evaluations, and real-time captures of your CAR stories. I recommend having at least 2 different versions. For ATS friendly, a word document is best. With only text and no diagrams or symbols. The second is having a graphical resume, with personal colors and picture, etc. In some countries photos are not used, and in some it's so common it's almost mandatory.
