When rushing to finish an AI project, especially for consumer-facing products like large language models, we must remember that these systems can only provide outputs based on the data they’re trained on. The danger lies in users mistaking these outputs for absolute truths, even when they’re derived from incomplete or biased data. As creators, it’s our responsibility to ensure the end product is grounded in factual information, not just opinions, which can change over time. Cutting corners on data quality or ethical standards can have widespread consequences. (Full disclosure: I gave the points, and an “AI” took care of the literature ??)

I'd say it's more difficult than that. Having good, inclusive data necessitate to think about what we're not used to think about. That requires a diverse team for a starter but also the ability to reach beyond our first or second social circles to validate our data. That goes with a lot of complications (IP, security etc.) and I'm not sure that one player had really find a true solution to this yet.

Technical debt is a tough question as it is also a mean to finance your project when you're early stage. You won't invest everything you should in development and your solution will be harder to maintain and upgrade. That trade-off is doable but you should be aware of it and fill the gap as soon as possible before it's too late.

This enables us to observe models' performance and gain genuine estimation and confidence in their real-world performance.
